So we rushed to get ready because they wanted to make it for James Marsters panel session. For those who don't know who he is, he played Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Luna purchased her ticket for a photo op with James and we joined her. He is so nice, approachable and still hawt even if he no longer has the trademark bleached hair. Quoting Spike: "It was Billy Idol who copied my style." To our delight, he mentioned that we were the same height as Sarah Michelle Ghellar, Buffy herself. Us being fangirls could not help but squee over meeting James and having him tell us that!
We went right after the photo op to get some autographs. At first, I lined up for Wil but Luna and Celeste spotted James already done with his photo op and sitting at his table. So we switched over there to get an authograph. I told him how I was watching Buffy while I was pregnant with Celeste and made a clever remark that it was imprinted in her genetic code to be a fan of the show (Celeste was delighted I put his attention on her). He was easy to talk to.
I then lined up for Wil Wheaton's authograph. We finally came up to him and I said hi and I said thank-you. As I was walking away, I was thinking wtf?! Didn't even chit chat with him, didn't ask no questions or just gush how a big fan I am of his, I just said hi and thank-you... I TOTALLY CHOKED!!! Again! *FACE PALM*
I dont know if it's because I like him a lot or because he's smart and so adorably nerdy/geeky that made him intidimidating to talk to, but man, I said more to James Marsters at the photo op session than I did to Wil for both the photo op AND autograph session... I could just kick myself.
We then, at the insistence of my daughter Celeste, went off to see Nicholas Brendan. It was her time to choke (made me feel better about myself to be honest). She got a hug by him and posed for the camera. It was quite cool to see him in person as well. I totally love Zander in BVS, he was an admirable character. No super powers but he had heart!
We then took the opportunity to get a photo op with Adam Baldwin. We know him as Jane in Firefly. With the girls VIP passes we got to be first in line! So we met with Adam first. He came in and towered over us. I was all flustered as I put my arm around him. He was so tall that I wasn't sure if I accidently had my hand on his behind. I got even more flusterd. The first pic didn't take, one of us blinked. So I got a second chance to put my arm around him again! Wooo I felt so jittery after that, I didn't realise I would be gusing over Adam like that but he is such a hottie and so tall.
As we were waiting for our pic of Adam, Sir Patrick Stewart walked right past us! We were like "colon-capital-oh" and I kicked myself for not pulling my phone out to snap a picture. So I took one of him behind the curtain. Lame but we knew we would see him in person again at the panel session. Which we did, after waiting in line for over an hour.
Sir Patrick Stewart came out with his son and a local news dude, which in all honesty was kinda lame on the news dude's behalf. He was kinda rubbing it in our faces that he got to meet with him one on one backstage. What an asshole. Maybe he was asked to assist the Stewarts but in honesty I would have rather it be only Sir Patrick. His son was cool however and funny too. It was nice to see father and son banter on stage.
Once that last panel was done, I was more than glad to part ways with my girls, who were off to meet up with friends, and head back to my room. It's simply exhausting waiting in line. VIP tickets are definetly worth it to avoid that. Maybe next year, who knows...
